Hydda is Swedish for hut.

It all started with the humble hut. From the moment we ventured out of caves and across the land to explore the world, our shelters have been vital for survival. Using whatever local materials were available, people built primitive structures to protect them from the elements and provide refuge. What may have seemed like a simple, unassuming task of necessity at the time belied a moment of great significance for design: in that instant, architecture was born.

We created Hydda because over the next fifty years the way we live and enjoy our spaces will change. Our homes will be built entirely from sustainable and smart materials. Our power and water supplies will be augmented with off grid supplies, our homes will be our workplaces, and climate change will drive population movement on a huge scale requiring us to use space more effectively.

Hydda is an architectural experiment. We design and build off grid cabins, designed by leading architects and engineers to create improbable architecture in some of the worlds most spectacular landscapes. We think of our projects as essential to promoting a new approach to how we might live in the future. Our cabins are available for sale and are made in configurable modules from 1 to 4 bed.
